Training rocks!

The title of this post kind of says it all ... this week of training just rocked, I hit a new high in miles, had a great weekend of running and am excited to keep going. I'm not sure why I have such the rush going, but I think it might be because i'm at that point of training where i'm actually seeing and feeling a difference. Just three weeks ago I hit the bottom on my long run after donating double red blood cells and thought I was in for it.

I know that the marathons are quite a long ways off and I shouldn't get too excited too soon ... but I can feel the burn in my legs (a good burn) and as the runs get easier, I start to yearn for more miles, which isn't a bad thing. I've got a busy week ahead once again, so it will be a struggle to stay so positive about running as the week goes on. Its funny now that 10 miles is becoming easy again, I never thought I would get the feeling back.

A perfect example of this how I overdid both my weekend runs (which put me over 60 miles for the week), which is good and bad, I have to be careful not to overdo it and burn myself out. I'm anxiously trying to keep new and fresh routes, running them backwards, adding detours, whatever it takes to keep it fresh ... its a challenge.

Yeah, the burn out is a concern but so is injuring yourself putting too many miles on too quickly.

To keep yourself interested try driving to some local trails to run. I know, I had to drive somewhere to go running too but it may be the best thing for you so you don't get burnt out on the same routes.
