the mornings have been cool

With 3 of my 4 weekday runs completed, it feels more like May than it does July ... the morning temperatures the last 3 days has been just more than 50 degrees in the Lehigh Valley. I'm not sure whats going on with that, but its funny the way that people react. Monday morning, I saw nobody out running at 5:30am ... yesterday I saw a ton of people out, however most of them had on long sleeves, pants and I even saw one with the shirt sleeves pulled over their hands ... COME ON PEOPLE, ITS NOT THAT COLD! For anyone that wants to see cold, take a look at the struggles I had back in February. Anyway, it certainly doesn't feel like July but i'll take it since it helps me from not sweating quite so much.
So tomorrow I have my weekly speed run, which over the last 2 weeks has gone well, but i've always ended up with something being sore or in pain afterward ... I hope tomorrow is different. I expect to cut my mid-week miles down somewhat next week while we're in Wildwood vacationing, so I certainly will welcome the rest next week. I actually slept until the alarm went off at 5am this morning, and had trouble getting up .. I think the constant getting up early is starting to wear on me, but I still have a lot of running left to do for the season. I thought about it the other morning that I have at least 4 more hard months to go until the Philly marathon in late November.
I'm working on trying to lay out a new 20 mile course for the weekend, the ones I have are starting to get stale already. I've got at least another 6 20-milers ahead of me yet prior to my first fall marathon, so I have to find a way to break it up somewhat. Even my 10 and 11 mile routes are getting boring, so i'll have to find a way to keep changing them up.
As I wrote above, i've noticed an increase in the amount of people out running in the mornings around here, which is yet another reason why I need some new courses. Its not that I don't like other runners, but the recreational runner doesn't really understand the competitive runner .. I guess another way to say it is that I'm one that doesn't care about how I look or what i'm wearing while i'm training. Some others just can't deal with that I guess ... Anyway, its motivation to head on to more back roads instead of the popular places (which is why I haven't gone back to the Lehigh Parkway, just don't like the culture there I guess.)
Anyway, I hope the weekend weather makes for some nice runs, its supposed to rain Saturday at some point, hopefully not early ...
