Since I seem to have all this time on my hands these days with the reduced mileage, I took some time to look back at some old training plans when I first started competing. The goal was really to find the old training schedule I used when I trained for t…

I have to say that i've rather enjoyed the first week of reduced miles and relaxing after finishing up the fall marathon season on Sunday. I enjoyed it so much that I blew off my 'turkey trot' on Thursday as well .. I just didn't feel like doing it and I…

Here goes part 2 of my race report (hopefully I can get it all written tonight)
The second 10 miles
I wrote in part 1 that I started to have groin/quadricep pain, but thankfully it didn't turn out to be anything major (except a nuisance). The cours…

I've finally got myself together enough to get my post-race report done (or at least the first part of it). First and foremost, thanks to everyone who posted, emailed and wished me good luck on this race, I really outdid myself and had what I consider a…

I had a great day at the Philadelphia marathon today ... finished in 4:02, 3 minutes better than I had planned. I ran a great race, kept my pace the entire time and finished strong.
Post-race report will be posted soon..... i'm currently busy pigging…

I've completed my second to the last short jog before the Philly Marathon on Sunday.. it was good because the temperature outside is just about what the expected starting temperature will be on Sunday, so I was able to test out my planned outfit to see i…

If I listen to my own advice on tapering, I shouldn't be worrying about what the weather is going to be for the race, but I can't seem to stop checking the forecast for the weekend in Philly. The forecast seems to change day to day and from one channel t…

I'm just under a week out now from the Philadelphia Marathon on the 22nd, and I certainly hope that the weather is as beautiful next weekend as it was this weekend (mid 50's morning, upper 60's afternoon). The long range forecast for next weekend in Phil…

Its pumped me up a bit when I received my confirmation email from the Philadelphia Marathon folks the other day ... it contained all the final information for the pre-race, the post-race and beyond and it kind of reminded me that this race is just 8 days…

I guess you can say that i've been fortunate the last couple weekends to have avoided any serious cold weather on my long runs, until today. It still fascinates me how weather people get away with predicting incorrect forecasts, and they always keep thei…

It feels good to take a day off from running, although as you can tell by the time of this post, I still get up in the morning just as early, but at least there isn't the need to be up and moving and out the door. Especially this morning it feels good, i…

After a decent weekend of no-pain runs, the week so far has been just as good. My back pain seems to have subsided for the most part, which has opened up the ability for me to start to push my pace again without much issue (at least for now). I'm startin…

I was fortunate enough to have access to channel WNBC, channel 4 out of New York this morning to be able to watch the New York City marathon. Just seeing the people, the start and finish lines, the scenery around the course, all the hoopla ... really mad…
